Opening new markets for wind.
Preparations are underway for the 5th Green Energy Auction (GEA-5) in the Philippines! 🙌🏻🇵🇭
Four months after the formation of the Offshore Wind Technical Working Group (TWG), GWEC and WEDAP convened a 2-day focused group discussion to shape industry priorities and bring forward the wind industry’s key asks for the upcoming #offshorewind auction under GEA-5. 🌊
🟢 Day 1 brought together the ERC, TransCo, and PPA for a deep dive into proposed revisions to the #RenewableEnergy Payment Agreement (REPA) – a critical step toward ensuring project bankability.
🟢 Day 2 saw productive engagement with the Department of Energy Philippines (DOE) to refine the Terms of Reference (TOR) – aligning on eligibility criteria, timelines, and risk-sharing mechanisms.
DOE Undersecretary Rowena Cristina L. Guevara shared a powerful reminder on Day 2: “We are going to push through. The only question is how and that’s why this dialogue is crucial. It’s not just about meeting energy targets; it’s about delivering long-term benefits for the country and its people.”
This milestone event underscores the impact of public-private collaboration where developers, financiers, government agencies, and multilateral institutions come together to create a more investible, transparent framework for offshore wind.
Huge thanks to our TWG members, legal counsel DivinaLaw and especially our ever-committed government partners for driving these conversations forward.
👉 The work doesn’t stop here. Next up: The TWG turns its focus to shaping a robust tariff structure that supports a successful and sustainable offshore wind auction.
Stay tuned as the offshore wind journey in the Philippines is just getting started!
