Sea Wind Holding AG, a Liechtenstein-based offshore wind investor with extensive experience in early-stage development of offshore wind projects in Europe, has entered into a strategic partnership with Triconti Windkraft Group, the Philippines’ pioneering offshore wind project developer.

Seawind joins the consortium to fast track the development of two highly anticipated offshore wind projects — “Frontera” outside Manila Bay bordering the provinces of Cavite and Bataan, and “Guimaras Strait”, along the shores of Negros Occidental. These first-mover projects have a potential capacity of over 1.5 gigawatts and can provide clean and reliable electricity to more than one million Filipino households. Furthermore, these projects can supply the much-needed power which is vital for the country’s economic development.

Fritz Kaiser, Chairman of Sea Wind Holding AG, highlights the rewards of offshore wind energy beyond energy production: “We are extremely delighted to implement the first-generation offshore wind farms in the Philippines.”

“Through our investments in renewable energy in the Philippines, we are supporting the Philippine government in achieving its goals of reducing dependence on fossil fuels, strengthening local enomoies, and thus contributing to the energy security and energy independence of local regions.”

The offshore wind industry has the potential to create thousands of highly skilled jobs for Filipinos and build a new local industry.

Triconti Windkraft CEO, Lila Rosenberger, believes “this partnership leverages Seawind‘s extensive know-how and experience in offshore wind development in Europe with Triconti’s deep local knowledge and strong network in the country. Furthermore, the offshore wind industry has the potential to create thousands of highly skilled jobs for Filipinos and build a new local industry.”

Stefan Simon, CEO of Triconti’s joint venture partner, Stream Invest Holding AG, praised the commitment of the Philippine government to support the growing industry. “The Department of Energy is building the Philippine Offshore Wind Energy segment guided by international best practices. We are very excited for this new industry to take off. “

Triconti Windkraft Group is a Filipino-Swiss joint venture that develops wind energy projects from greenfield to construction. With a combined portfolio of 4 GW of onshore and offshore wind projects in the pipeline it is one of the largest independent wind developers in the country. Since early 2020 it has worked with the DOE and other organizations building up interest, knowledge, and promote opportunities in the Philippine offshore wind sector.
